August is such a great time of year for the eco-conscious Northeast cook! Fresh, local ingredients are sweet and abundant; and seasonal produce tastes so good, you could practically eat everything raw. But if you’re interested in embellishing summertime treasures in the kitchen, join us as Chef Louisa Shafia, author of the acclaimed Lucid Food: Cooking for an Eco-Conscious Life (Ten Speed Press), shares some unique and lovely ways to cook with late-summer vegetables, fruits, and herbs. All proceeds from tonight’s class will benefit Just Food.

On the Menu: Homemade Lemonade with Lemon Balm and Lemon Verbena; Watermelon Gazpacho; Indonesian Corn Fritters; Grilled Pizza; Apricot Shortcake with Lavender Whipped Cream.
Instructor: Louisa Shafia, Private Chef, Consultant, and Cookbook Author
